The European Journal of Clinical Nutrition states that increasing your levels of Vitamin D would cut premature death by 21%, and extend your healthy lifespan by more than two years (and that's quality, not just quantity). Vitamin D is not actually a vitamin, it was wrongly classified as such but the name never changed. Vitamin D actually is a fat-soluble precursor hormone part of the steroid hormone in your body called calcitriol, that the human body can produce naturally. Calcitriol regulates phosphorus, calcium, and bone metabolism and neuromuscular function in the body. There are multiple forms of Vitamin D, the two most important ones are Vitamin D-2 & Vitamin D-3. Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, which is made by your skin naturally. Ancient Purity Vitamin D3 is an incredibly powerful 10,000IU (international units) capsule. A healthy person will naturally synthesize around 10,000–15,000 IU of Vitamin D3 in the skin soon after sun exposure, there are no negative effects.

Medical researchers have been sounding the alarm about the importance of maintaining optimal Vitamin D levels from childhood through to the adult years, but millions of ageing adults remain grossly deficient in this critical hormone-based nutrient. Every cell in the body is now known to have Vitamin D receptors where the nutrient provides an essential key to accurate DNA and cellular replication. Vitamin D works at the genetic level to lower the incidence of mutations and improve cellular replication.

Ryan's Review

Vitamin D3 with Vitamin K2 in Liposomal form, fully absorbable. Made under strict conditions to achieve a perfect Lipo D3 at 1000iu’s, the Vitamin D3 is (Cholecalciferol) and the K2 as (Menaquinone-7). With phosphatidylcholine (derived from NON-GMO soy).

Going Liposomal

The nutrients in these formulas are encapsulated into very small multi-layer spheres or liposomes. By formulating the nutrients within liposomes, we are able to mimic the actual cellular delivery and absorption mechanism of the body.

During digestion, our bodies extract nutrients from food and encapsulate them in liposomes. These liposomal packages of nutrition are absorbed through the gut wall and enter the bloodstream. When they reach a cell where they are needed they fuse with the cell membrane and the nutritional content is absorbed directly through the cell wall.

In much the same way, the nutrients in the liposomal formulas are encapsulated in liposomes. The liposomes are made of phospholipids (fat in the form of lecithin).
Phospholipids are amphipathic, that is, part of their structure is water-soluble (hydrophilic or water-loving) and the other part is oil-like (hydrophobic or water-fearing and fat-soluble). When added to water, the water-soluble part of the phospholipid interacts with the water and the oil-like part of the molecule avoids the water.

Both fat-soluble and water-soluble nutrients can be encapsulated inside liposomes which makes it extremely versatile and can be used for a host of different nutrients. Liposomal formulas are stable under acidic conditions, this enables them to pass through the high-acid environment of the stomach to the duodenum (the middle GI tract) where absorption takes place. In some cases, the absorption rate (bioavailability) is greater than 90%.

The Multiple Effects of D3 + K2

Brain & Mood Health
Some studies have even shown that vitamin D deficiency could be associated with a higher risk of developing conditions like schizophrenia. Further research has also found that vitamin D status may also influence depression, anxiety, seasonal affective disorder and insomnia.
Getting enough vitamin D may also bump up brainpower as well. One study published in The American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry even reported that lower levels of vitamin D may be linked with poor performance on standardized exams, difficulties with attention and focus as well as impaired decision making.

Stay Immune
Low levels of vitamin D may be the main reason for many immune problems and infections. Vitamin D aids in cell replication and is thought to help protect against the development of autoimmune conditions and infections like the cold.
Vitamin D may also help prevent prolonged inflammation, which is often considered to be at the root of many chronic conditions and health problems. Studies show that inflammation may play a part in heart disease, diabetes and cancer along with a wide range of inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and inflammatory bowel disease.

Bone Support
Vitamin D supports bone density. A severe Vitamin D deficiency example is rickets, a condition that affects children and is characterized by bone abnormalities and reduced bone mineral density. Although rickets is incredibly rare these days, other bone-related disorders such as osteoporosis are still very common. Not only has vitamin D deficiency been linked to an increased risk of osteoporosis, but it’s also been tied to decreased bone mineral density and a higher risk of fractures in older adults.

Lungs & Respiratory Health
The understanding of Vitamin D metabolism and biological effects has increased so much in recent years, it’s clear Vitamin D has extensive immunomodulatory effects. The active Vitamin D generating enzyme, 1α-hydroxylase, is expressed by the airway epithelium, alveolar macrophages, dendritic cells, and lymphocytes indicating that active Vitamin D can be produced locally within the lungs. Vitamin D generated in tissues is responsible for many of the immunomodulatory actions of Vitamin D. The effects of Vitamin D within the lungs include increased secretion of the antimicrobial peptide cathelicidin, decreased chemokine production, inhibition of dendritic cell activation, and alteration of T-cell activation. These cellular effects are important for host responses against infection and the development of allergic lung diseases like asthma. Epidemiological studies do suggest that Vitamin D deficiency predisposes to viral respiratory tract infections and mycobacterial infections and that Vitamin D may play a role in the development and treatment of asthma. Randomised, placebo-controlled trials are lacking but ongoing.

Fighting Tooth & Nail
Our teeth’s enamel (the barrier protecting your teeth) is mainly made up of calcium and phosphate, Vitamin D plays an important role by increasing the absorption of the calcium and phosphate from foods. Getting Vitamin D by the sun or by supplement you keep your enamel strong and help fight the bacteria responsible for dental caries among other dental health issues.

Liposomal Encapsulation Technology – Delivering the Goods

When a regular capsule or pill is ingested it must first pass from the mouth through the digestive system to finally be absorbed in the small intestine. During this process, digestive enzymes in the mouth and stomach, digestive acids, bile salts and various gut flora degrade the nutrients before they are finally metabolised by the liver and made available to the body. This entire process slows and reduces the nutrients’ bioavailability. Phospholipids are impervious to the various digestive juices. This makes liposomes the perfect delivery system for acid and enzyme-reactive substances. In a nutshell, a liposome allows the nutrient to be delivered directly to exactly where it is needed, inside the cell.

This product has been developed and manufactured in a HACCP registered European laboratory using only European sourced components. Special techniques have been used to ensure the stability and efficacy of the product.

Definition
An artificial microscopic vesicle consisting of an aqueous core enclosed in one or more phospholipid layers. In other words, a liposome is a tiny ‘nano’ sized bubble or sphere (vesicle) made from a phospholipid (in this case, phosphatidylcholine). This is the same material of which our cell membranes consist. These bubbles can be filled with substances such as Vitamin C, Glutathione or even drugs. Liposomes have the ability to carry either water of fat-soluble payloads, which makes them an ideal delivery system.

Formation
Phospholipids are amphiphilic, they consist of a hydrophilic (water-loving) head and hydrophobic (water-hating) tail.

When phospholipids are placed in an aqueous solution, the hydrophobic tails face each other avoiding the water and forming a phospholipid bilayer while the hydrophilic heads form hydrogen bonds with the water molecules. The lipid bilayer will form a closed sphere (liposome) to completely exclude water from the hydrophobic tail.

Vitamin D Levels and K2

The important factor when it comes to vitamin D is your serum level, which should ideally be between 50-70 ng/ml year-round, and the only way to determine this is with a blood test. Healthy sun exposure is the preferred method, but this Vitamin D3 supplement can be used when necessary.

Most adults need about 8,000 IU’s of Vitamin D per day to achieve optimal serum levels. If you choose to take our Vitamin D3 supplement, make sure you’re getting enough Vitamin K2. Fermented vegetables can be a great source of vitamin K2 if you ferment your own using the proper starter culture. Gouda and Edam cheese are also good sources.

Some Vitamin K2 rich foods: Spinach, Swiss Chard, Turnip Greens, Mustard Greens, Brussels Sprouts, Parsley, Romaine Lettuce, Broccoli, Asparagus, Collard Greens, Celery, Green Beans, Leeks, Cabbage, Basil, Thyme, Sage, Kale. For Vegan Vitamin D3 with Vitamin K2 SEE RELATED PRODUCTS BELOW.
